Take Care of Your Teeth Starting from Me
01 Understanding Teeth
To help children develop good oral hygiene habits and reduce the incidence of dental caries in children's deciduous and permanent teeth, the Child Welfare Institution of Yuxi City Social Welfare Service Center has launched a fusion activity called "Caring for Teeth and Starting with Me". The children in the activity have a deeper understanding of teeth.
In the activity, the children observed and explored teeth and found that teeth have many different shapes and sizes. Some teeth are taller than others, some front teeth are flat, and some back teeth are round. They also discussed the uses of teeth, such as chewing bread relatively easily, while tearing chicken legs requires more strength. Through this activity, children have a more comprehensive understanding of teeth.
02 Saving the Decayed Teeth
The children also learned how to prevent and treat dental caries. They learned that dental caries is caused by bacteria corroding teeth, which is a common bacterial disease. If not treated in time, the cavity will gradually enlarge and eventually cause complete destruction of the tooth crown. Therefore, preventing dental caries is very important.
In order to better understand the prevention and treatment of dental caries, teachers used pictures and music to explain to children why dental caries occur and the reasons for bacteria formation on teeth after eating sugar or food without brushing. Through learning and observation, children understand the importance of maintaining oral hygiene.
03 Protecting Teeth
In a small classroom, children also summarized the foods that are harmful and beneficial to teeth. They realized that foods such as cakes, candies, carbonated drinks, and coffee are harmful to teeth, while foods such as vegetables, fruits, rice, and milk are beneficial to dental health.
To help children develop good brushing habits, teachers also taught them the correct brushing methods. By playing the role of a dentist, children observe and diagnose teeth, reinforcing the content of the lesson. The song of the Bass brushing method helps children better understand the correct brushing steps.
Through this activity, children have gained a deeper understanding of tooth protection. They realize that brushing can help remove oral debris and massage the gums, reducing the number of oral bacteria. Finally, the purpose of the activity is to make every child a dental guardian with a healthy and beautiful smile.
Teeth are an important part of the human body and have great appeal for children. Through this activity, children have gained a deeper understanding of teeth and learned how to protect them. The activity started with children's discoveries and discussions, and sparked their attention to dental health through role-playing as dentists and practical observations. We hope that every child can become a dental guardian with a healthy and beautiful smile.
